What a great day

We got up way too early for my taste, but it was well worth it. We left the house at 8:45 am to head to the Cape. It took us two hours to get to Hyannis. At 11:15 am we boarded the Cape Cod Railroad train and set off 15 minutes later. CAWLI, an adoption agency in Boston was having a benefit for an orphanage in China. While we are not a CAWLI family, we try to get involved in any way we can when it comes to Ping's heritage. Our agency doesn't do anything in MA. They do things in Texas. The train ride was an hour and there was music and a face painter and balloons. We had a wonderful time. We got to meet others who have adopted and share our stories of our children.

Once we finished our ride, we headed home. We had terrible weather on the way home. Torrential downpours. We stopped for coffee for Bill, a quick trip to Walmart and some gas. We then made our way to a temple in Worcester to see a Jade Buddha that was here for a short time. We jumped out of the car to get a few pictures and we were going to walk around, but it was so crowded, you could barely move.

Once home, we fed Ping and those two went to bed. I stayed up to watch a great Hallmark movie and now I am heading to take a soak in the tub.

Another week has gone on by

I can't believe it's been a week since I have written. I have so much to catch up on here. I will do the best I can. Wish I could remember stuff better, but what can I say? I am not getting any younger!!!!

Last weekend was Memorial Day weekend and we had plenty to do around here. Bill and I started the weekend a little early. We meet our friends Bobby Jo and Brooke at the playground for a few hours of fun before Ping had to go to dancing on Friday. On Saturday, we stayed home and caught up on laundry, some stuff I had to do at the computer and some clean up in the garage. On Sunday, we were supposed to go to Meri and Joe's, but due to us both having so much to do, we didn't go to their house for dinner. Bill worked on the garage and I worked inside. On Monday, Bill walked in the parade. We went to the cemeteries and then came home to do a few more things before heading to Meri and Joe's for 6:00 pm.

We had a great time getting together with them. It was nice to take a break. Joe cooked steak on the grill and we sat around chatting and toasting marshmallows.

I had a major migraine at Meri and Joe's house. No matter what I took, it wasn't cutting it. I sat down to watch a little TV and closed my eyes after we got home and Bill and Ping went to bed. I ended up sleeping on the chair all night. Needless to say, I slept, but I really didn't sleep. I need to be upstairs using my CPAP. However, I was too tired to move. So I sat there all night long drifting in and out and in and out. I was so cold come Tuesday morning and so tired, I went upstairs at 8:00 am and told Ping that she wasn't going to school. My head was pounding still and I just felt awful. She wanted to go, but I just couldn't do it. I skipped swimming and felt so guilty and she skipped school and I felt so bad about that as well. I did apologize to her and she told me she wasn't mad at me. I ended up sleeping till 2:00 pm. I literally had to drag myself out of bed at 2!!!!! Ping was fine. She kept visiting me in bed. I knew where she was and what she was doing. I finally got up, took a quick shower and took her to ice skating.

On Wednesday, Ping got to school and I got to swimming. The rest of the day was spent at home. One great thing happened. I got a call from DCF. They asked if we were interested in putting in our home study for a 4 and a 5 year old set of siblings. I told her that we would be thrilled to be put in front of the social worker. I spent the rest of the day doing a little cleaning around the house and also working at my desk. I have a new case for CASA, so I got started on that. I also booked a few appointments. Nothing exciting, but the stuff that just needs to get done!!!

Thursday started like an ordinary day. That was until noon. DCF called and told us they picked up to be the foster to adopt parents of the sibling group they called us about yesterday. I was so excited, but couldn't even get the details because there was a Kindergarten orientation in 15 minutes and I had to run out. Ping got to visit with the teachers, do some crafts and ride the school bus for the first time. I got to listen to a few of the teachers and specialists and watch a slide show. Once home, I called the social worker and got the scoop on the two children. They are not 4 and 5, but 2 and 3!!!! The 2 year old is a boy and the 3 year old is a girl. We are so very excited. However, my head never stopped spinning for the rest of the day. There is so much to do before they come. I had to call and email and Facebook everyone. The phone was ringing off the hook. I hardly found time to have lunch, but at 4:00 pm, I was starving. When I finally turned in to bed, I couldn't shut my brain off. I was up till at least 2:00 am. My head was swirling with things that I need for the little ones!!!!!

Today was a better day. I was still wired, but a little calmer. I got up at 7:00 am and showered. I took Ping to school and came home. I didn't get to go to swimming today because Ping had a Kindergarten social from 9:30-10:30 am. She had a great time and it was nice to talk with some of the other parents. A really welcoming group. Hard to believe that we may all know each other for the next 12 years of our children's lives!!! Once that was over, I took her back to class and sat on the bench at school waiting for her. Once we left there, I stopped to talk to a few of our awesome neighbors and then came home. We stayed home until I had to take Ping to dancing. Ping worked on her princess puzzle while I made a gazillion phone calls regarding the children that will be joining us. After dancing, Ping and Daddy went for a walk. Now I am here catching up and those two are fast asleep in bed. My eyes are burning. I am just so tired!!!!! I am going to sit for a little while and watch TV. First I must upload some pictures.

I hope you have had a great week and stay tuned for more detail about the kids this coming week!!!!!

I am awake!!!!!

I know it sounds funny to say that I am awake, but I have been taking a new prescription lately and while it works on the problem I was having, it makes me a ZOMBIE. I seriously could fall asleep at a red light. So I have been instructed just to take it at night. To be honest, I don't think it's going to help because I have been taking in in the evening, but I will give it another try! If it continues to make me feel like I have been drugged, than no matter how much I was happy it was fixing the original issue I was having, I am not going to take it any more. If I was 80 and all I had to do was finish my afghan for the day and watch the soaps, that would be fine, but I am a mom and I am on the road a lot. I can't be asleep at the wheel. Yesterday I took an on and off nap for nearly 5 hours. Today I did it again for 2 hours. So to say that I am awake is a good thing. I am hoping I am shaking the sleepiness! Enough about that!

I am trying to think what we have done since I last wrote. Probably slept, that is the problem!!! Sunday we went to an adoption party. As usual, we came home empty handed. It's not like we would have brought a child home that day but we didn't even walk away with any prospects. Pretty disappointing to say the least. After the party, we went to Donna's house to visit for an hour or so. We then rushed home so that Bill and Ping could go to a movie. First movie ever for Ping. They went to see "How to Train Your Dragon." They had a great time! Ping wanted to know why everything was so BIG. Too cute!

On Monday, the three of us played hooky. Very rare. In fact, we really never do that. Bill was on call all last week at night for the fire department. There were one to two calls every single night. We had a busy weekend on top of that. So I suggested to Bill that he call in. Nobody at Bill's work reads this blog, so I feel like I can share the truth here. Anyway, Ping didn't go to school and I didn't go to swimming. I felt guilty about that, but things had to be done. The three of us went to get Bill a coat for Memorial Day. His dress coat is a hand me down and never fit properly! We had to go over to a special place in Fitchburg. They didn't have his size, so we need to go back. We then went and purchased a ton of flowers for the cemetery. We plant at my Mom and Dad's stone, my grandmother's and my great aunt and uncles. So after we purchased our plants and did another errand, we came home to eat and then went to the cemetery to plant. We finished late. While Ping took a bath, I headed off to a wake for my Mother's cousin.

On Tuesday, I had to go to CASA to get briefed on a new case. After we left there, we headed home. Ping wanted to work on one of her new puzzles. She loves puzzles. I bought her some new puzzles for the age of 6 and up. She does the other ones too fast!!! In the afternoon, I took her to her ice skating class.

Yesterday afternoon we spent at home. Around 4:30 pm I sat down and fell asleep. I proceeded to wake and pass out and wake and pass out. I was sitting in the living room with Ping. She was working on a puzzle and watching a few new videos I got from a Freecycler. They are VHS, but we have a VHS machine, so why not add to the collection. Ping loves videos. She loves cartoons on Boomerang too.

Today we stayed home because I was tired still and Ping wanted to do a new puzzle. She tries to do a new one and be done by the time that Daddy is home. She loves it when Daddy comes home and tells her how proud of her he is. Mind you, I tell her that all day. I can't be bothered with puzzles. Don't ask me why, but I find it an exercise in frustration!!! After you are done, you just need to break it up and put it away, right? I am not into gluing and all that stuff.

Well I must be running. Bill just came in from working on the yard and Miss Ping needs to hit the sheets.

Hope you are surviving this hot week!
