We are back to school!!!!!!

I am not a fan. I know that sounds odd. I am not a fan of getting up at 7:00am and showering. I am not a fan of going to the school for 8:00am, 11:00am and then 3:00pm.  I don't love emptying the backpacks, making sure homework is done and making lunches for the next day. Maybe if my kids went from 8:00am-3:pm, it would be more enjoyable. Getting one at 11:00 am is hard though.  I rather they all get out at 11:00am or the all get out at 3:00 pm.  Well I have no control over the schedule, so it it back to school for the three.

Here is what we have been up to for the last few weeks. We have been busy beavers as always.

On August 16, we got up in the am and headed to Maura's house to visit with her and her new baby boy Liam. What a cutie patootie. We stayed till 3:00 pm or so and then headed home. Bill was unable to go with us because he worked from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.  Once he got home, we gave the kids dinner and tucked them into bed.

On Friday, we got up and took Yamira to therapy. While I sat there waiting for her, Bill took the other two and went to get the car washed.  We then went and got the three kids hair cuts at JC Penney.  Then we headed to the house. The kids swam for the rest of the afternoon. We then had dinner and put them to bed. It was a very busy day of running around.

We woke up Saturday morning and had breakfast and then swam for a few hours. We then cleaned the house from top to bottom so that the owners would come home to a clean house.  We left late in the afternoon and headed home.

On Sunday we woke up and headed to Hubbardston again, but this time for our family reunion.  We got there for 11:00 am. Shortly after getting there, we participated in the penny table. That is always a lot of fun for the kids. You buy envelopes for 10 cents. You get two envelopes per child. Then the child walks around and puts plastic disks with numbers on them inside of cups next to the item they hope to win.  The kids always end up with stuff they love. The kids also did the egg toss and the wheel barrow race. We had lunch, had a meeting and bought a few items at the auction. Just as we were leaving, Manny got a bee down his shirt. He was stung five times. Poor kid. He was hysterical, but recovered quickly.  We jumped in the truck and headed home for showers and bed.  They were exhausted.

Monday we got up and headed to Roger Williams Zoo. We met our friend Meg and her son Ethan there. We had a wonderful time walking around and seeing the animals.  It was a great day.  We then had dinner at The Simple Man in Clinton. It was okay, but I wouldn't run back there again any time soon.  It was late by the time we got home so it was straight to bed for the kids.

On Tuesday, we were going to go to Davis, but we never got there.  We had a lot to do around the house and decided to do that instead.  Bill also had a 6pm meeting that night, so we stayed here and did a few things around the house.  Bill then headed out for his meeting and I put the kids to bed after reading to them.

Wednesday was a busy day. We had a babysitter for Yamira and Manny because we had plans to pick up our friend Jan and Jim at Logan at 1:00 pm. Unfortunately, Yamira and Manny plus Jan and Jim and their luggage would not fit in our truck. We did bring Ping because they adopted their beautiful Hope when we adopted Ping.  I really wanted them to meet the other two, but we just couldn't fit everyone. We picked them up at Logan, drove to Falmouth and had lunch at The Flying Bridge and then took them to the ferry. They were in town for a wedding. They wanted to spend a few days at Martha's Vineyard, so they took the ferry there for a couple of days and then headed to Osterville for the wedding.  We didn't have enough time with them!  It was so good to see them though.  We had a great day. We dropped them off at the ferry and then we went and picked up some salt water taffy.  We got home late.  It was a long day for all of us.  We have a great babysitter, so at least we know the kids are in great hands when we are away.

On Thursday, we got up and headed out the door to Davis Farmland. We had a great day feeding the animals, riding on the hay ride and then playing at the splash park. We headed out of there around 5:00 pm as Bill was on call at 6:00 pm.  It was a busy night too with a few calls.

Friday consisted of a long appointment at Brighams in Boston.  I was there for hours. I got home late in the afternoon. Just in time for Bill to be on at 6:00 pm.  At least I got to go to Boston alone!

On Saturday we were going to go to Holden Days, but we never got around to doing so. We stayed home and did a ton of stuff around the house instead.  It felt good to get some things done.  Bill was on at 6:00 pm again.  So we were home for the night.

Sunday was a great day. We went to Buffamville Lake to an adoption party picnic. We sat and chatted with some friends of ours while the kids played in the water. We then came home and got ready to head out for the night. Our babysitter came to watch the three kids and Bill and I headed into Boston to meet with Anita and her boyfriend. We had reservations at 7:30 pm to take a boat tour around Boston Harbor. It was wonderful. The weather was great. We had a fun time chatting. When we docked, we grabbed a cab and then headed over to the North End for St. Anthony's Feast.  We met with Anita's parents and walked around for awhile. We then grabbed a cab and headed back to our car and then we headed home. We had a great time.

Monday we stayed home. We had plenty to do around the house as the kids were getting ready to go back to school on Wednesday. So we let them have a day of play, TV and naps!  They were very much needed. Bill did some cleaning in the garage and Ping did some crafting. I worked at my desk.  Bill then headed out for an evening meeting and I put the kiddos to bed.

On Tuesday, Bill did a few errands and I stayed home with the kids. Manny and Yamira napped in the afternoon and Ping did some projects. I did some projects too. I prepped the backpacks and made lunches for the girls.  I took Yamira to a doctors appointment in the afternoon. She didn't need any shots. Lucky girl.

Wednesday 7:00 am the alarm goes off and we are back to running the rat race. The kids got dressed, I did the girl's hair and then it was breakfast and out the door.  We dropped the kids off and then Bill and I went to do errands. We walked into Target and just looked at each other.  Bill said it was odd to be alone. I told him it was like a date.  A Target date. Yay. Not so much! We went to Target, AC Moore and a few other places. I then took Sasha to the vets for a quick appointment and Bill picked up Manny. At 2:00 pm, Bill headed off to a meeting and I picked the girls up. The line was very long and I was stuck in it for 20 minutes. Not thrilling at all. We then went to Lady Grace so I could pick up the bra I had ordered. The kids had a grand old time asking why there were fake "boobies" in the store. What a fun trip that was. Not!  We then headed home and while Bill cooked dinner, Ping did her homework and I filled out some paperwork from school. After dinner, I read a book and it was time for bed for the kids.

Thursday morning we dropped the kids off at school and proceeded to run into Worcester to pick something up and then I had my hair cut. We then headed home. Bill picked up Manny at 11:00 am. Bill had a 1:00 pm meeting at school.  I stayed home to make some calls and to let Manny sleep. Bill then picked up the girls at 3:00 pm and brought them home. Yamira and I then ran to therapy for 4:00 pm.  We stopped at Big Y for a few minutes and headed home for dinner.  I had a 6:30 pm appointment, so I left for that and Bill put the kids to bed.

Today was a busy day. Bill was going to drop the kids off and I was going to stay home. I got up really early though and got the kids ready and the lunches packed.  Bill took the kids to school and then took the truck to a maintenance appointment. I did a few things here that needed to be done. I then took a shower and went to an 11:30 am appointment at Children's Friend. I hit the bank and Puccis and then headed home. Bill got the girls at 3:00 pm after doing an errand.  I had a mani/pedi appointment at 4:30 pm, so I headed out at 4:00 pm.  I was there till 7:15 pm. The woman that did my nails was great. I had a Living Social coupon. It was a nice time away.  Since being home I have done a few things at the computer. It is now 10:15 pm and I have not had dinner. I need to do that as I am hungry. I need to post some photos first though.

It's Labor Day weekend and we don't have plans. Very odd as we always have plans. I hope you enjoy your weekend thoroughly.  this weekend always signals the end of summer. Bummer. I have to put away my white pocketbook too now. Darn!

Another month nearly gone!!!!

Where is August going? Why is it moving so quickly.  I want another month of summer.  So sad that all four of my family members are going back to school.  I have so much more I want to do with them all.  Boo.

It's been two weeks since I was here last. As always, we have been busy beavers. We even had a little vacation thrown in. So let's start with the fifth since it's been that long since I have checked in.

On Sunday the 5th, we jumped in the car and headed to Pennsylvania to a place called Nemacolin.  It is a 2500 acre resort that has several accommodations, places to eat, places to play and swim.  We checked in, emptied our suitcases and went and had some dinner at "The Wildside." Not a fancy place by any means. Ping and Bill had a pizza, the younger set had chicken fingers and I tried a quesadilla.  It was good, but I could only get a few bites down. The Wildside has bowling, a bar, machines you can play like the ones at Chuck E. Cheese, a climbing wall and a few other things.  After dinner we went by shuttle back to the hotel to go to bed as it was late and the kids were beat.  It was hard getting them to settle in. At midnight, Manny and Yamira were still staring at me!

Monday morning we got up at 7:30, had a quick bite in the room and took the kids to Kidz Club for 9:00 am.  We then headed off to the Safari Tour that I had booked when I booked our reservation. The tour was fabulous. We fed bears, a wolf, a few tigers, zebras and some other animals. It was fantastic. We got up close by feeding them raw chicken.  We truly had the best time. While we were doing that, the kids were off having their own tour of the animals, then they ziplined, climbed a rock wall and swam.  After we finished our tour, Bill and I headed to Fallingwaters. A Frank Lloyd Wright's designed home. That was really nice. We then headed back to the Kidz Club so we could pick up the kids by 4:00 pm. A quick trip to our room to change into our suits and then off to the pool. The kids swam for hours.  About 8:00 am, we left the pool, changed and went to dinner at The Tavern.  The Tavern has a huge fish tank.  The kids kept falling asleep at the table. They were wiped.  Yamira was wide awake, but Manny and Ping kept bobbing their heads. Guess Kidz Club as a hit.  Can I send them daily?  After dinner it was back to the room and bed. I then headed to the library and read my book for hours.

We got up at 7:30 am on Tuesday and after a quick bite, we headed to the Kidz Club again. We dropped off the kids at 9:00 am and then Bill and I headed to the Adventure Center for our 4x4 Jeep Rubicon ride. That was a lot of fun. Both Bill and I learned how to drive a jeep over rough terrain.  Once that tour was over, we headed to a local winery. We were hoping for a tour, but there wasn't one. We bought two bottles of sparkling wine and then headed back to the hotel. We had 2:00 pm reservations for a 40 foot canopy tour. So we suited up and headed out to the course. Bill could do it, but I could not. I tried to crawl up the pole, but I didn't have the strength to do it. Given what my body has been through, it was just too hard for me to do. So Bill continued on and I waited for him. He said it was hard to do, but he was glad he did it.  Once he was done, we headed to the Kidz Club to get the kids and then drove to the Flight 93 Memorial. That was great to see. Very hard to explain what it was all about to the kids, but we did our best. After spending some time there, we headed back to the hotel. About 5 minutes from the hotel, we stopped at a place for dinner.  We then went back to the hotel to get the kids into bed. They were spent.  We all were!

We got up early on Wednesday and took the kids to the pool for a little over an hour. We then got dressed, checked out and headed home. It took us around eleven or so hours to head home. We stopped for lunch at Bonanza which I thought was horrendous.  We then stopped to go to the bathroom. So we didn't stop all the time. It just took forever to get home.  We arrived at the house around 11:00 pm or so.

On Thursday morning, we drove to Lowell to see a concert in the park. We then headed home for lunch. Manny and Yamira napped and I took Jezebel to her yearly check up. She is doing great. She is now up to 8 lbs. Hard to believe given how small she is!  We spent the rest of the day at home doing some cleaning and organizing.

On Friday, Bill took Sasha for a hair cut and I took the kids to One Stop Fun in Westford.  They had a great time. Bill enjoyed the peace at home I am sure. He did do a few things around the house while we were out.  Once home the kids at dinner, showered and went to bed. They were zonked. It had been a busy week.

On Saturday morning, I was going to take the kids to a concert, but it had been raining out and the ground was wet, so I decided not too. Wish I did.  We then were going to go to something in Wellesley, but the weather was iffy, so we decided to take them to the Mapparium.  It was fine, but a waste of money. Not worth the money to park or to get in. I have wanted to take the kids for some time, so I am glad we went. They enjoyed it. We then headed to Jordans in Framingham to look at a few things. The place was packed due to it being a tax free weekend.  We were not there long. We had to get home because Bill was on call at 6:00 pm.

We got up early on Sunday morning because we had 11:30 am reservations for high tea in Warwick, RI.  The place was cute. We had a great time. The three kids got breakfast food and Bill and I got the high tea. I got a wonderful tea called Paris something. Wish I could remember the name. It was delightful. Bill got a chai and loved it. I then tried a mango tea that was lovely.  We had a delicious scone with jam and clotted cream, hot and cold sandwiches and then a few desserts.  It was a nice time.  We then headed to Staples and Walmart for some supplies.  Once home we had dinner and put the kids to bed after a book. Bill was on call this night as well.

On Monday, Bill went to work and I packed up the car to head to a house I am watching on Comet Pond.  The kids and I brought some stuff in, put on our bathing suits and drove over to the public beach area to meet our friend and her three kids. We were there from 11:00 am till 5:00 pm. We had a wonderful time. I got a little burnt, but that is okay.  I piled the kids in the car and headed back to the house which was two minutes away.  I went to go into the house and the key wouldn't work which freaked me out a bit.  I had to call the owner to ask what the trick was.  Sure enough there was one.  Once we got in the house, the kids and I went out through the basement and they went swimming there and played in the sand box. They had a great time. Finally I said that we needed to change and have dinner. Unfortunately, Daddy got hung up at a call and couldn't get to the house late. On top of that, the microwave at the house didn't work and Bill had the food. So after I gave the kids some snacks, I tucked them into bed. They were so tired from being out all day long in the water and the sun. It was a great day. I felt bad they didn't get dinner, but what could I do? Bill finally arrived around 9:00 pm and cooked a hamburger for he and I. Unfortunately, there was no ketchup to be found. That was frustrating!  However, we made due. I watched a little TV upstairs while Bill watched downstairs.  I finally crawled onto the water bed somewhere around 2 am or so.  I slept pretty well, but found the bed to be very painful on my back. That surprised me as I always heard that water beds were good on most people's backs!

I got up at 7:00 am because three kids were staring at me. I was less than thrilled. I would have preferred 8:00 am!  Both Bill and I got up, fed the kids and then packed them in the car to head home. Bill had to work at noon and I had an appointment at the house in the morning. So I came home and showered and met with the guy that was doing some work at my house. Bill headed off to work and then I took the kids to the library to put in their final chances for the reading program. We then came home and I met with another man that had to do something at the house. Once he left, we were free to leave, but I got involved in doing a bunch of stuff and so we stayed here till Daddy came home. Once Daddy changed, we headed off to the house.  The kids played on the playground and then we had dinner and put them to bed.  They were disappointed they didn't get to swim, but it was sort of cool and it was very late.  I watched a movie after they went to bed and then crawled onto the water bed somewhere around 2:30 am or so.  Bill joined me at some point after that, but I have no idea what time.  He had been watching TV in the basement.

I woke up pretty miserable. Not sure what is going on, but I am allergic to a few things at the house. First of all, Bill had a blanket from the basement. I think that is what set me off. I was stuffed up and my eyes were horrendously itchy. Drove me nuts.  We fed the kids breakfast and I cleaned up the house, packed some stuff to put in the car, locked up the whole house and then we headed home to our house.  I needed to shower as did Bill. We wanted to get the kids their school supplies and I had other things to do at home.  I told Bill that because I felt so miserable, had plans for dinner with a friend tonight and because he has to work first thing in the am, it would make sense that we just stay at our home for the day and sleep here this evening. So that was the plan. Bill went to Walmart with Shayla. Manny and Yamira napped. I worked on a few things at my desk. Then later on I headed out to dinner with my friend Cheryl. I had a fantastic time!  It is so nice to be able to go out and have a nice uninterupted dinner.  We have so much in common, it's really great.  Now I am home getting caught up here.

Well that is all for now. The kids are nearly back to school. I am really sad about that as I have so much more I wanted to do with them.  Hoping to do some great stuff next week.  Till next time, stay well and enjoy the rest of your summer.

Here we are at August already

I am not a fan of August as that says "end of summer" to me.  This summer like every summer has gone too darn fast!  It's been an awesome summer for the most part.  We have kept busy, but still want to do so much more!!!!

Here is what we have been up to lately.  The last time I was here was the 19th of July.  So let me see here. Got to get out the calendar. Shoot me, I am old and can't remember.

Friday was supposed to be an awesome day, but it wasn't at all.  Headed to Worcester with Yamira for therapy.  Got a call from a friend cancelling plans due to possible weather conditions. So I called another friend to ask what we wanted to do. Rescheduled the day to do something different. Called another friend to tell her who was disappointed the plan for the day was changed.  I was doing the best I could.  Anyway, went ahead with new plans, but they also got royally messed up. After a phone call to one friend who was already at the place, I spoke to another friend who was also at place number two. She was leaving as it was very busy and she was concerned she may not get in. So I called the other friend to tell her, but she said she was waiting in line and not leaving. So we lost her. Meanwhile called the fourth friend to say that we were now going with option three. So on to option three the three of us mothers went.  We went to the library where we got tossed out due to our kids being too loud. That was terribly embarrassing.  I was embarrassed anyway.  Then we went to the playground.  Had a great time seeing friends, but have decided that I took a big hit for being the one that originally made the plans. I have decided to stop doing that and to start doing things on my own. Seem like all I do is play cruise director and while I normally love that position as I am a natural born planner, it is not appreciated for it's complexities.  I end up feeling like I am blamed for the weather, the canceled plans and the like. So going forth, I am going to try my best to change that behavior.  Regardless it was a great day and the kids had a ball.

The following day, we went to Dinosaur Place in Connecticut. We had a fantastic time. The kids loved it. The day was gorgeous. There were 20 of us.  We walked the trails which were beautiful. We did the maze a few times, we played at the splash park, had lunch and played at the playground. It was a beautiful day. Everyone left except for my family and Ayi Meri's and so we had dinner at Applebees on the way home. Ping's favorite. Great day.  Wish the place was closer.

On Sunday, we also went to Connecticut.  We went to a place that grows sunflowers. They cut the flowers into bunches and sells these bunches for $5. The money all goes to the Make a Wish foundation!  Another gorgeous day. We went with Ayi Meri and her family. We got there and found out that it was $5 a head for a hayride or a ride on the moo train. We passed up both and walked through the flowers ourselves. We took a ton of photos and then got our flowers and left. We stopped to get corn at a farm stand and then had dinner at The Mill in town and then we hit Meolas for ice cream.  It was a beautiful day, but man was it hot out!  We then headed to a friend's house to look at her home that we will be watching soon while she is out of town.

On Monday, we took the kids to the Fruitlands Museum.  It was over the kids heads, but they enjoyed it anyway. We walked around in the different buildings and then we took a little trek on one of the trails. It was a great trek with the exception of the flies that loved me way too much.  We then went to Berlin Orchards and then home for dinner. It was a nice day.

On Tuesday, we did a bunch of errands. We had been out playing so much, we had to get some things done.  So we did the usual stuff like the bank, Walmart, Target, Lowes and a host of other places. It was a long day in the car with overtired kiddos.  That night I had dinner with my good friend Bobby Jo. Oh how I love sitting and chatting with her. We do not do it nearly enough.

On Wednesday, I had my TPN line taken out. That was fine. Took only minutes. Grateful to have it gone.  We then took the kids to the Higgins Museum. The loved the place, especially the second floor where there are large chess pieces and costumes to try on and games to play.  Bill loves Higgins, so he had a great time as well.  We then went home for dinner and books and bed.

On Thursday, I had a doctors appointment with Dr. Shikora, the one that performed my surgery.  It was a quick appointment. He is not a man of many words. I then had to get blood work and then we went to the Boston Aquarium.  The kids had a blast. Personally I had a nice time as I was out with my family, but the place was terribly crowded!!!!  We left late afternoon and headed home to have dinner. We then went out to the library to watch the show Gwendolyn the Pig. It was a book and ballet show. The author read the book while a few ballerinas danced the parts in the book. The kids had a blast and I got to see a friend I have not seen in ages.  It was a long day.

On Friday, we were going to go to Davis, but some people were too busy and the weather again threatened rain.  So we did not go. Instead we stayed home. I was going to take them to a magic show in the afternoon, but in all honesty, I had a ton to do. That and Ping actually requested that we stay home so that she could have some alone time. She wanted the little ones to nap and she wanted to do crafts. It was a great idea so we did just that.  The little ones were happy and refreshed, Ping was happy and I got some stuff done. That night I went out for a MNO in Worcester. I had a nice time with the other ladies.

On Saturday, we went to a free concert in Marlboro. The kids and Bill danced. It was island type music which I love. We had a nice time. It was only an hour long, but that is just perfect when you have little ones.  We then did a few errands before heading home for naps and craft time.  I then did a little cleaning before Ayi Meri and Uncle Joe came over for a shared anniversary dinner. Bill made steak, potatoes and corn. Meri brought wine and cheesecake. We had a great time playing Trivial Pursuit.  We exchanged gifts. We got a beautiful vase. They got a lantern to hang outside. I hope they liked.

On Sunday, we headed to our friend Meg and John's house. We had a wonderful time. We spent the afternoon and early evening there. Meg made chicken, ribs, pasta salad and cornbread. Everything was so yummy. She is an awesome cook! We had chocolate chip cookies for dessert. My favorite dessert of all time. We sat and chatted a bit while the kids played. It was a wonderful afternoon. Unfortunately, when I first got there, I got a text from a friend who was very upset with me. It made for a very upsetting afternoon.  I spent a lot of time texting instead of concentrating on the friend I had in front of me, but felt it was important to do so as all of my friendships are very important to me.  Ended up really upsetting me though.  All in all, it was a great visit.

On Monday, we dropped the three off at vacation bible school. They were so excited to go. Sadly, Manny got tossed out after less than two hours. He was not well behaved which was upsetting.  So he spent a very dull afternoon doing nothing. We then got the girls at noon.  They had lunch and the two youngest had naps. Ping did some craft stuff.  At 5:00 pm, I headed out the door for a massage appointment with my friend Molly. It was wonderful.

On Tuesday we dropped off the kids at vbs at 9:00 am. I then did a few things at home and then headed to an 11:00 am appointment.  Bill got the kids at noon. I then headed home to grab them all and we took Yamira to therapy.  We then did a few errands and headed home. We headed back out around 6:00 pm for a free concert in Holliston. Unfortunately, the minute we pulled into Holliston, it started to rain. So we pulled over near the concert and opened the windows so the kids could hear the music. After 45 minutes or so, we left for home. It was late and the kids were tired.

On Wednesday, the kids went to vbs and I had a cranial sacral appointment for my head and stomach. That went well.  In the afternoon, we took the kids to DeCordova Museum because it was free. I really wanted to go for the sculpture park. The kids had a blast which was sort of shocking. They enjoyed though. We walked the entire outside and then the inside and then headed home as it started to pour.  Once home we had dinner, read some books and put the kiddos to bed.

On Thursday, the kids went to vbs in the morning and then while Manny and Yamira napped, Ping and I headed to our friend's house to go swimming. I chatted with Lisa about everything under the sun while Ping swam with Lisa and Tom's gorgeous girls. Two of the girls are from China. It was a great day. I needed the break from all three together, Ping needed the break, the kids needed a nap and Bill needed to mow. I felt bad I didn't take them, but this was really best for everyone.  We had a great time.  It so good having a heart to heart with a true friend.  We even took a quick ride to the farm stand for goodies. I got corn. She got a bunch of stuff for a salad.  We then headed back to the house where I grabbed Ping and we headed home for dinner with Daddy and the Yamira and Manny.  Then it was books and bed.

Today was a great day. The kids had their final vbs day. They sang some songs at the end which Bill and I went to watch. Very cute. The director does a fabulous job. She is such a crafty and sweet lady. The kids are so lucky to have her.  We then headed to Salisbury to see Bonnie and John. Bonnie had surgery the same day I did.  We were going to go to the beach, but we got up there so late due to traffic, that we ended up staying right at their house. They had their three grandchildren over so the kids would have playmates. They had a fantastic time and swam in the little pool they have.  We then headed home for dinner and bed as it was getting late. Great day.

I will post a few photos. I have taken a FB break, so you won't see photos there for right now. Frankly, a few people have turned me off from being on there, so I am taking a step back. In fact, I am taking a step back from a lot of things right now as I am really upset about a few things. Trying to work through it and make some necessary changes.  Sometimes you have to do that. It's hard for me, but I must. I will never be at the mercy of others again. I did that for years.  I am done being that person. Take me for who I am or move on. I can only do so much. In all honesty, I do too much and it's not remotely appreciated. So I am done doing it.

Off to do a few things.

Happy Birthday Dad. I love you and miss you. You would have been 75 today had you not been taken way too early.
